No Shadow Today!
It was a miserable, cold and cloudy day today. It was not at all the kind of day that makes you think of spring, but of course, the perfect day for Gertie (our area groundhog celebrity) to NOT see her shadow!
We started the day with a graph to see if the munchkins could predict whether or not Gertie saw her shadow. Well, I have to say that the munchkins were way too smart. Everyone realized that she would not, and when we discussed why, they all felt that was the case, everyone very simple stated that there was not sun! I guess that was all for that conversation!
On to more fun things, the munchkins created a setting for a puppet of Gertie. One side was a sunny day (with a shadow) and the other was a cloudy day (without the shadow). The munchkins added the underground home, which they learned was called a burrow, and then used the puppet to play.
No shadow...an early spring!
Oh, no...my shadow!
After some fun stories about groundhogs and a fun little newspaper from "KindNews", we ended the day with a new snack.
A chocolate pudding burrow, graham cracker sand and a little teddy graham groundhog sticking out of her home.
YUM!
Until next time...
Giggles,
Mrs.D.
