Good St. Joseph

  A Feast Day for Dad

We honored St. Joseph today, as well as our own dads! 

We made St. Joseph altars...

The munchkins chose items to place on their altars.  They loved the way the items could "stand" on their own!

There was a special little prayer attached to the front of the box, asking St. Joseph to pray for and watch over our dads.

Then each munchkin wrote a nice note to dad and slipped it inside the prayer box.  So sweet...

Those munchkins that had time even colored this nice image of St. Joseph to add to the saint coloring pages that we do throughout the year.

Honoring our Dads

with the

Feast of St. Joseph

The Feast of St. Joseph was Saturday, but since we weren't at school to celebrate it properly, we decided to do it today! Creating a St. Joseph altar is a neat tradition to honor the Father of the Church, so the munchkins each created one on the top of a tiny box. 

Our altars had a sweet little prayer for Dad on the front and a little love letter inside.

The munchkins had a great time learning all about the tradition behind the altar, exploring what some of the items on the altar might mean (like the roses, the bread & wine and the candles).  We have some very insightful munchkins!

The pieces were a challenge to color because they were so small, but everyone stuck with it...

  Probably the most fun, though, was getting all the little pieces to stand up on their own!

Everyone was very excited to have something special to take home to Dad.
