Our Lady of the Rosary
We had a beautiful Thursday to celebrate Mary. First we attended Mass as a class (and, of course, took notice that Father was wearing his blue vestments!) Then, thanks to ideas from Jessica, we dedicated our whole day to the rosary and our Blessed Mother.
We had a beautiful Thursday to celebrate Mary. First we attended Mass as a class (and, of course, took notice that Father was wearing his blue vestments!) Then, thanks to ideas from Jessica, we dedicated our whole day to the rosary and our Blessed Mother.
We started with the story of Mary's life: Mary, Our Mother. The munchkins were very interested in Mary's life before Jesus, as a young girl who was so dedicated to God. After reading our story, we discussed everything we know about the rosary and then we made a little rosary cup. All the munchkins were very excited to take the cup home to hold their special rosaries.
The munchkins then put together a Rosary Coloring Book and spent some time coloring the beautiful pages and prayers.
Then came the most fun!
Who would have thought that counting the 53 Hail Mary prayers would excite the munchkins so much, but when you add marshmallows to the mix... well...that's another story!
We created our own edible rosary with marshmallows and mini oreos. It was a fantastic exercise in counting, grouping by tens and organizing (not to mention a wonderful contemplation of the form of the rosary). They turned out very cute and the munchkins did an absolutely tremendous job of keeping track of the prayers as they set the rosary out on their mats. It was fun to listen to them..."mater bead, mater bead, mater bead" until the got to ten then..."pater bead". It was beautiful!
Super counting!
Our finished product...
Then came the fun part! Eating them!
Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death!
Amen.
Until next time,
Giggles,
Mrs. D.
