The Annunciation

Gabriel & Mary

The munchkins were so ready for this day, as we have had it marked on our calendar for the whole month...plus...they remember learning all about it when read all the Infancy Narratives during Advent.

We took a bit of time to re-read the Prophecy of the Mother from Isaiah and the Annunciation from the Gospel of Luke.  It was fun to hear all the little excited sounds when they realized they knew these scriptures.  I think the most fun was when they recognized some of the words from The Hail Mary and The Angelus. (Yes, we know the Angelus!) One little munchkin even said,  "That's where those words came from"!

We had to do something fun to honor this day, so we created a fun little angel art project from Catholic Icing.

The munchkins traced and cut out two hand prints.

Then they traced on footprint.  What a hoot!  Who would have thought that taking off a show could be such a treat!

Everyone added their own special flare when it came to gluing the angel together and adding the face.  We had some curled wings, long eyelashes, and even red eyes!  Lovely!

The best part had to be adding the halo.  Glitter is always a hit!

What a fun way to honor Mary's "Yes"!

Until next time...
Giggles,
Mrs. D.
