Lions and Lambs

In Like a Lion...
Out Like a Lamb?

Well, we've all heard it before, right?
 But is it true?

The munchkins had fun this last week of March predicting just how true that old saying is!  We wrote and illustrated our predictions and then graphed them to see what the consensus was.  It was a great opportunity for the munchkins to practice many sight words that they know how to spell, plus practice all the conventions of writing a full sentence:  upper case letters, proper spacing, punctuation and proof-reading.

We had lots of munchkins that were very optimistic that we would have a nice, pleasant, sunny, lamb day to end our month of March (even though March 29 froze us with 24 degree temperatures and snow!)

After our graph was analyzed, each munchkin created a paper plate critter to match his or her prediction.  We had a room full of little lambs!  There were only three lions...

Just who is it behind all those masks?

The fun couldn't stop there, especially considering that it was a Wednesday!  You may not know what that means, but any kindergarten munchkin will tell you...It means it's recipe day!

So we got out the ingredients to make little lions & lambs.

The cookies were too cute...but not as cute as the cooks!

So did we end up with a lion day or a lamb day today?
Actually, we had a hard time deciding!
One minute the sun was out.
The next time we looked, we thought it was about to rain.

That's March for you!

Until next time...

Talent Show 2011

St. Mary's Has Talent!

We had such a great time participating in and watching the school talent show.  We are so very blessed to have some amazingly talented kids at our school, including some of our kindergarten munchkins!

We had piano players.

We had Tae-Kwon-Do.

We had drummers.

We had recitations.

We had dancers.

And many other talents too!

 Great job everyone!

Until next time..

Field Trip Fun

Music in Our Schools Month

Mrs. P arranged for a great field trip to Kidder Music as a culmination to her celebration of music during the month of March (which is Music in Our Schools Month).  We went with the first grade and we all had a great time learning about, listening to, and trying to play all the interesting instruments at the shop.  We even got to make a little instrument of our own to take home.

The bus ride over was 1/2 the fun!

We gathered together and got to know our host.

Then we heard saw and heard some really cool instruments.  How talented the folks at Kidder Music are!  Amazing!

We heard string instruments...

and brass instruments...

and woodwinds...

and even percussion!

Then we got to play a few...

and make our own.

What was more fun...making the instruments or making the NOISE?

Or maybe it was the bus ride!

Until next time...

High School Friends

A Special Visit

We had a special visit today from two lovely ladies from our area high school's student council.  They spent a part of the morning with, us reading to the munchkins.  They also brought a little coloring page and interacted so nicely with the little ones while they were working.  It was a nice treat for everyone!

Unitl next time...
